You may know it, You move Your Tracks to an new Folder, a biggger Volume or an new Computer and RekordBox doesent find the Files anymore and decorates the Tracks in the Collection with a nice exclamation Mark....
Relocating the Tracks one by one with the RekordBox "Missing File Manager" is annoying and tedious...
Here RekordBabe can Help:
After Exporting your Collection from RekordBox, RekordBabe scans thru the new Music Location, matches the Filenames with the Filenames in the Collection and changes the Location to the Files in Your Collection accordingly, so that You can reimport the Collection and the nasty exclamation Marks disappears and the Music plays again!
You can download RekordBabe Trial (limited for 101 Files/Run) for free for OSX or Windows
RekordBabe does not contain any Trackers, Malware and Adware, Virustotal shows that no harm is found.
To get the Full Version just donate something (this is "what it's worth to You"-Software) via Paypal to the Email-Address in the Help-Page of RekordBabe (i dont publish it here that i wont get swamped with spam... )
*The name was coined by my Wife (she is a feminist, as i, and aware of using wrong role-models) and is some sort of wordplay around RekordB***y, and has no sexist connotation...
The RekordBabe MiniManual:
0. DO A BACKUP, THIS IS BETA SOFTWARE, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!! i am not responsible for any damage, comprendo!
(and dont do this 30min before the gig :-), the procedure could take some time (re-importing to RekordBox))
RekordBabe is tested
on RekordBox 4.* and 5.5 on OSX 10.11
Windows Version is tested on win7, should work on 8-10
RekordBabe doesent require installation,
on OSX:
in System Preferences set "Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere"
just
mount (doubleclick) the RekordBabe.dmg file and run RekordBabe.app
on Windows:
unpack the zip-Achive and doubleclick on bin\RekordBabe.exe
1. In RekordBox Do File->Export Collection as XML (lets say "RekBoxCollection.xml")
and make a copy of it (just in case, RekordBabe doesnt overwrite any Trackfiles, these are safe anyway) and Quit RekordBox
2. In RekordBabe choose the Export-Collection XML File (not the copy!) as Source-XML File (in this case "RekBoxCollection.xml" from step 1.)
3. Choose your Main-Music-Folder
(the one with all the Subfolders and Tracks in it).
4. Choose/Enter Your RekordBox.xml Output-File (lets say RekBoxCollection_new_location.xml"), this File will be used to Import the Data into RekordBox
5. Press "Start Conversion"
6. Open RekordBox, In RekordBox Preferences->View under "Layout" Enable the RekordBox.xml and at Preferences->Advanced->Database under RekordBox.xml. choose the the file you put in at step 4 as "Imported Library" (in this
case RekBoxCollection_new_location.xml")
7. In RekordBox, unfold the RekordBox.xml entry in the left Panel (you have to enable it in Preferences/View in the Layout-Section), click "All Tracks", select all Tracks and rightclick, choose
"Import to Collection"
8. take a cup of Tea, this may take a while
9. At the RekordBox.xml entry you will see your Playlists, rightclick on the "Playlists"-Folder and click on "Import Playlist"
10. take a cup of tea
11. take an other one (repeat steps 10 & 11 till the import is finished and everything is analysed)
12. In the RekordBox-Collection your relocated files should be there, check the Location in the Browser, there should be one with
the original and one with the new location. Check if the new Location plays...
YEAH you saved yourself a some time relocating your files one-by-one...
13. Do File->Display missing Files, check if any of the Files in the new Location
are missing,
and delete the ones from the old Location!
14. if anything goes wrong they are a Conversions-out.txt and a RekRelError.txt File in the Music-Folder for Debugging,in RekRelError.txt there is a list of the not found and unsure Files at the end.
Special Characters in the Filenames and Directories can screw up finding the Files, probably only works on western-charactersets....
